I am visiting your green places today and wandering the countrysides. Inspiration for art and certainly the land seems to speak of the hand-work that has gone on here in a bygone era.
In the hallway of the Manor house (a castle, I called it in my American way) there was a spinning wheel up on a display shelf in the lobby, it had wool in it's spindly parts. It was for show, but it's a story from the past that make fiber enthusiasts like myself smile. So, while I am not plopped down on the grassy knolls of Europe for a knitting spell (would be lovely, but we are far too busy!), the craft and the art speak to me from their hidden in plain sight way. It's a secret shared and passed on, one the artist can see...
And the reason fiber enthusiasts squeal slightly at this sight: (ahem, even more so, when it's in person, I may or may not have startled the taxi cab driver :D)
With wool in my mind, but not yet in my fingers, Roux

One of my favorite hooks is going to a new home this week. Twisting Oak Bark hook was one of my first carved hooks and something about it's strength and simplicity always resonated with me. May the new owner enjoy many use of use and enjoy many projects! We bid you farewell our stick friend!

I want to thank everyone who has poured in their support of the Red & White Part-tay this year as we celebrate the 3rd Annual Candy Cane Crochet Hook Auction! As you have noticed, I have been quite busy and posting micro-blogs at odd hours of the day! But you guys have pulled through and we have a lovely display of your red and white projects to showcase as the final week of Christmas continues and the last candy cane hook of the season is auctioned off. If you are new to the Part-tay- welcome! I hand carve and decorate crochet hooks and sell them here. During the holiday season, special artist-series candy canes hooks are made and auctioned off with no reserve, starting at $1. It's quite fun, really! Jump on over to my shop, HandCarvedHooks.com and click on the candy cane hook to see more. Without further ado, enjoy our yearly showcase of red and white! And thanks again to all the lovely people who joined in!!

Hi Guys! I've been crazy swamped, so forgive these short bursty micro blogs for the moment! But in all the rush, the Candy Cane Auction continues, this week with a larger 7mm candy hook, 7" long. These are totally usable for your craft, or just gorgeous for display boxing them (like some of our friends do!;) There are only two more candy hooks for the season, so if you're interested, go check it out and bid! It might just be yours!
